Arlington Microneedling
Restore Your Skin
Microneedling at SkinDC is an effective and versatile cosmetic procedure to improve your skin's appearance without more invasive treatments.
By stimulating the body's natural collagen and elastin production, microneedling can significantly reduce the appearance of scars, wrinkles, and pores and improve skin texture and firmness for a rejuvenated, youthful complexion.
What Is Microneedling?
Also referred to as collagen induction therapy, microneedling uses very fine needles to create equally fine channels through the surface layer of the skin.
Even though the body loses collagen at about 1% per year after a person reaches their mid-20s, the body’s ability to create new collagen remains. It stays dormant until an injury causes a healing response.
Microneedling triggers the healing response, although it creates little to no damage due to the fine, solid needles used. The microchannels created by the needles close quickly. There may be some pinpoint bleeding, which typically stops within seconds.
How Microneedling Works at SkinDC
The microneedling process begins with applying a topical numbing cream to the treatment area to minimize discomfort. Then, a specialized device, known as a dermaroller or microneedling pen, is rolled or pressed across the skin, creating micro-punctures.
These superficial punctures cause no significant injury, but they’re enough to trigger the body's wound-healing process. This process involves remodeling existing collagen and producing new collagen and elastin fibers, making the skin firmer, thicker, and smoother.
Microneedling is a versatile treatment that can be performed on various body parts, including the face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen, and back.
This treatment is particularly beneficial for addressing
- Acne scars
- Age spots
- Fine lines
- Wrinkles
- Large pores
- Reduced skin elasticity
- Uneven skin tone

What to Expect With Microneedling
Procedure Duration & Recovery
A standard microneedling session typically lasts about 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the treatment area's size and the skin concerns being addressed.
While you may experience mild redness and swelling like a sunburn immediately after the procedure, these side effects usually subside within a few days. Most individuals can return to their normal activities within 24 hours after treatment.
Results
Initial results can often be seen within a few days after treatment, but the most significant improvements will become visible after several weeks as the skin produces new collagen and elastin.
For optimal results, multiple sessions spaced about four to six weeks apart may be recommended, depending on the individual's skin condition and goals.
Safety & Suitability
Microneedling is safe for nearly all skin types and tones and is a less aggressive alternative to laser treatments, with a lower risk of hyperpigmentation, especially for those with darker skin tones.
However, it’s not recommended for individuals with active skin infections, certain skin diseases, or compromised skin healing.
Post-Treatment Care
After microneedling, it's important to protect the skin from sun exposure and to follow a gentle skincare routine. Hydrating serums and products rich in peptides and growth factors may be recommended to enhance the healing process and support the skin's regeneration.
