What Are Birthmarks?
Birthmarks are common, often appearing tan or red and small in size. Sometimes they go away with time, but often they can be permanent and even get larger, which results in individuals wanting to get them treated to reduce their appearance.
The two main categories that most birthmarks fall into are:
- Vascular birthmarks: These birthmarks occur if blood vessels in a particular area of your skin don’t form the way they should.
- Pigmented birthmarks: These occur when there’s an overabundance of pigment cells in one area.
